Here's some more in-depth explanation of each one of the six lifestyle habits we will be focusing on:
The Gamut Fit Six is a 4-week, points based, challenge to develop and maintain healthy lifestyle habits.
Each day there are 6 daily tasks to complete to earn points:
1. Adequate Sleep
Minimum 6 hours a night.
Staying up binge-watching TV isn’t worth missing sleep.
We get days are filled with work, meal prep, working out, eating. You are going to have to make time, and maybe not do some things that you want to do, or are used to doing, to get to bed at a decent time.
Following these 6 daily tasks will alter your life in the most positive of ways! It's only 4 weeks, so stick to it and see how much you can change!
2. Healthy Food Choices
We have provided you with a list of Frequent, Sometimes, Rare & Avoid foods.
Most days your plate should be filled with lean protein and veggies.
Focus on eliminating processed foods and foods you are sensitive to.
Because we’re human, and we don’t want you to binge before or after the challenge, booze (some lol), cheese and rice are in the Rare category. You can have 1-2 servings of these food/drink per week to help keep your sanity!
You will be using the Wodify “Rise” app to keep a food diary (even with pictures!) to help better keep track of what you eat and any symptoms or differences you might notice when you eliminate certain foods from your everyday diet
3. Proper Hydration
Minimum 1/3 of body weight in ounces.
You will be peeing a lot. Is it a bad thing? No. Will it take getting used to? Yes.
Start your day with a glass of water. It helps flush toxins from the body and gets the body set for the day.
Set alarms for specific times of the day to have water consumed.
Take sips even when you don’t feel thirsty.
Use rubber bands around your bottle or an app to keep track of how much you’ve consumed.
4. Daily Physical Activity
We are looking for 10:00 minimum per day.
This can range from High/Moderate intensity to Low intensity.
This is not required to be completed at Gamut Fitness. It could be as simple as an evening jog or walk with a friend or significant other. Perhaps a short bodyweight workout at your own home when you can’t make it to class. As long as you are physically active for 10+ minutes a day (not including your work) then you can score points
5. Yoga/Mobility Practice
15 min minimum.
This can be completed at Gamut Fitness, a yoga studio, or in the comfort of your own home.
6. Mindfulness and Gratitude
For each week, you will have a challenge that begins every Monday and ends Saturday to be completed once daily to earn the allotted points for that day.
Challenge announced Sunday’s at 10a.
Possible “Challenges”: Daily 5:00 meditation Sitting down while eating Turning off all devices 30:00 before bedtime
